Abstract
Background: Low Back Pain (LBP) is the most frequently reported musculoskeletal disorder globally. The WHO (2023) recorded 619 million cases in 2020 and predicted an increase to 843 million cases by 2050. In adolescents, the prevalence of LBP is also high; studies report 61.4% of students aged 12–17 years experience this complaint. One intervention used to relieve pain in LBP patients is the McKenzie exercise. Thirty students at SMA Negeri 03 Malang City experienced LBP. Therefore, researchers are interested in conducting research on the Effect of the McKenzie Exercise Intervention on Low Back Pain Levels in SMA Negeri 03 Malang City Students.
Purpose: To determine the effect of Mc Kenzie Exercise intervention on the level of low back pain in students at SMA Negeri 03 Malang City.
Method: This study employed a pre-experimental research design with a one-group pre-test and post-test. The sample consisted of 30 respondents who met the inclusion criteria and were selected through total sampling.
Result: Based on the Wilcoxon Test calculation using SPSS, the P-value was 0.000 <0.05, so the result is that H1 is accepted. So it can be interpreted that there is an effect of giving Mc Kenzie Exercise on reducing the level of Low Back Pain in Students of SMA Negeri 03 Malang City.
Conclusion: The results showed that there was a decrease in pain in LBP patients after Mc Kenzie Exercise therapy, where before therapy the average pain score was 3.27 and after therapy the average pain score was 0.40.
