Abstract

The rapid development of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology has encouraged the increased use of AI in students' academic activities. However, the high use of AI is not necessarily accompanied by students’ readiness and confidence in utilising it sustainably. This study aims to examine the effect of perceived behavioural control on students' intention to use AI. The study uses a quantitative approach with a correlational design. The research subjects consisted of 430 students from various educational levels and regions in Indonesia through convenience sampling using Google Forms. Data were collected using the PBC scale and the AI usage intention scale adapted into Indonesian. Data analysis was performed using simple linear regression. The results show that PBC has a positive and significant effect on students' intention to use AI. PBC explains 33.5% of the variation in AI usage intention, while the rest is influenced by other factors outside this study. These findings indicate that students who have greater confidence in their ability and ease in using AI tend to have a stronger intention to utilise AI in academic activities and daily life.
