Abstract

Digital transformation is the process of utilizing digital technologies, such as virtualization and system integration, within organizations. In this digital era, many daily activities already utilize digital technology, such as the use of digital books, communication, and shopping. The engineering canteen at Universitas Muhammadiyah Malang Campus 3 is one of the largest and most popular canteens among students. During the transaction process, some students or buyers experience long and unorganized queues. Therefore, this research aims to design a prototype application using the HMVC method during code implementation to facilitate the application design and provide an alternative solution to the issues in the canteen. The research follows a prototyping approach consisting of five stages: requirement analysis, designing prototype structure, implementation, application testing, and evaluation. The data collection techniques used include observation, documentation, and interviews. The results show that the E-Kantek application design was implemented using the HMVC architecture. The application of HMVC architecture provides benefits such as structured code organization, improved modularity, code reusability, and easier maintenance. The test results from Unit Testing and Black-Box Testing show that the components and functions of the E-Kantek application are running well, while User Acceptance Testing results show a score of 88.9% for admins, 81.8% for sellers, and 81.7% for buyers, all falling under the "Agree" category. Based on the research findings, it is recommended that future research focus on improving the User Interface and using frameworks other than CodeIgniter.
