Abstract
The rapid advancement of digital technology has made online gaming a popular activity among teenagers. Uncontrolled use has the potential to develop into online gaming addiction, which impacts the physical, psychological, social, and academic aspects of adolescents, as well as affecting family harmony. This study aims to explore in-depth the experiences of parents in dealing with adolescents with online gaming addiction. This study used a qualitative approach with a case study design. Participants consisted of two parents of adolescents aged 12-18 who had a habit of playing online games for more than three hours per day. Data collection was conducted in-depth, interviews, and documentation, then analyzed using the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions with validity testing through source triangulation. The results show that online gaming addiction in adolescents is characterized by excessive playing time, disturbed sleep patterns, emotional changes, a tendency to withdraw from social circles, and disrupted communication within the family. Parents make various efforts to address this condition, including limiting playing time, diverting children to more positive activities, providing guidance, and collaborating with schools. Online gaming addiction in adolescents impacts both the adolescent and the family, so an active role for parents through communication, supervision, and emotional support is essential to help adolescents manage game use in a healthy manner.
