Abstract
Mining activities result in post-mining land that is nutrient-poor, with low pH and low available organic matter, making the land unstable. Reclamation through revegetation requires healthy seedlings from a nursery, and the application of foliar fertilizer, absorbed through the stomata, is expected to provide nutrients more quickly than roots. The application of foliar fertilizer on merbau seedlings (Intsia bijuga (Colebr.) Kuntze) at certain solution concentrations can increase both destructive and non-destructive observation variables, along with additional microscopic observations of cell anatomical structure. The research was conducted at the PT. Amman Mineral Nusa Tenggara nursery for fertilizer application and at the Laboratory of Biology, Muhammadiyah University of Malang, for cell anatomy analysis. The method used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) and Image-J application analysis with treatments of control and foliar fertilizer solution concentrations of 2 cc/l, 4 cc/l, and 6 cc/l. The observed parameters included height and stem diameter, The number of leaves and leaf area, root length, number of roots, fresh weight and dry weight, as well as cell anatomical data including cell wall thickness, cell wall to lumen ratio, and the number of leaf stomata. The analysis results indicate that the concentration of leaf fertilizer solution significantly affects the growth of merbau seedlings (Intsia bijuga (Colebr.) Kuntze). A concentration of 6 cc/l is most effective in increasing height, leaf area, number of roots, dry weight, stem cell wall thickness, and the cell wall to lumen ratio in root cells. A concentration of 2 cc/l is optimal for root cell wall thickness and the number of leaf stomata. Overall, a concentration of 6 cc/l supports vegetative growth and the anatomy of merbau seedlings in post-mining land rehabilitation.
