Abstract

The website of the Counseling Guidance Unit (UPT Bimbingan Konseling) at Universitas Muhammadiyah Malang plays an important role in providing information and counseling services for students. However, the effectiveness of this website largely depends on its usability as perceived by users. This study aims to measure the usability level of the UPT Counseling Guidance website at Universitas Muhammadiyah Malang and to provide improvement recommendations based on the analysis results. This research employs a quantitative approach using the PIECES method, which consists of six aspects: Performance, Information, Economy, Control, Efficiency, and Service. Data were collected through a questionnaire distributed to 40 students who had used the website, using a Likert scale. The collected data were tested for validity and reliability using SPSS before further analysis.
The results show that the performance and economy aspects fall into the dissatisfied category, while the information, control, efficiency, and service aspects are categorized as neutral. The overall usability score of the website is 2.74, indicating that there is significant room for improvement. Based on these findings, this study proposes several improvement recommendations, including optimizing website speed and stability, enhancing and updating service-related information, improving the efficiency of online counseling access, strengthening data security and privacy, simplifying navigation, and improving service quality through interactive features. These recommendations are presented in the form of a prototype design as a proposed website development to better meet users’ needs and expectations.
