Abstract

With the rapid development of digital technology, reading skills are no longer limited to recognizing words or understanding the surface meaning of a text (Padma et al., 2025). Reading skills have evolved beyond literal comprehension to a more complex skill, namely, critical reading. This skill requires readers to analyze, evaluate, and reflect deeply on the content of the reading. In the context of English as a foreign language education, critical reading plays a crucial role in helping readers analyze and critique texts. This is because students are not only required to understand English texts but also to assess their credibility, consider the perspectives presented, and relate them to broader social, cultural, and academic realities
