Abstract
Mental health has become an urgent concern, particularly among early adults in Bali who are described as facing psychological vulnerability. This study was motivated by the need to understand factors related to psychological well-being, focusing on pet attachment as the predictor variable. The aim of the study was to examine the effect of pet attachment on psychological well-being among early adults in Bali. A quantitative approach was applied using Likert-type scales administered via Google Form. Participants were 250 male and female early adults aged 19–32 years, living in Bali, and owning a companion animal (dog or cat). Pet attachment was measured using the 22-item Lexington Attachment to Pets Scale (LAPS), while psychological well-being was assessed using the Indonesian version of Ryff’s scale consisting of 28 items. Data were analyzed using simple linear regression in JASP, and normality was evaluated through histogram inspection. The results indicated that pet attachment had a positive and significant effect on psychological well-being (β = 0.30; R² = 0.09; F = 24.21; p < .001), with a relatively small contribution. Descriptively, most participants fell into the moderate category for pet attachment (71.6%) and psychological well- being (85.6%).
