Abstract

Violations of academic integrity in scientific writing, specifically in undergraduate theses, constitute a serious problem in the higher education environment that is increasingly evolving alongside advancements in information technology. One widespread practice is the use of thesis writing services, which raises issues regarding academic validity and the legal consequences for student scientific works. This research aims to analyse whether completing a final project through thesis writing services can be justified academically or legally, and to examine the regulation of sanctions and student scientific works. The research method used is normative juridical research with a statutory approach and a conceptual approach. The legal materials used comprise primary, secondary, and tertiary sources, analysed qualitatively using a descriptive-analytical method. The results show that the use of thesis writing services contradicts the principles of honesty, originality, academic integrity, and academic responsibility, and constitutes a violation of academic integrity. Furthermore, academic integrity violations in students' scientific works may be subject to university academic sanctions as well as legal sanctions under prevailing laws and regulations, and sanctions may also be imposed on the providers of these final project writing services.
