Abstract
Shadow teachers have an important role in supporting inclusive education for students with special needs. However, severe challenges such as high workload, role ambiguity, and low welfare are indicated to affect their job satisfaction. Happiest Places to Work (2024) reported that 70% of employees in India are dissatisfied with their jobs, and 54% are considering resignation. Grit is defined as persistence and consistency in pursuing long-term goals, which is believed to affect a person's satisfaction with their job. This study uses a quantitative method with a simple regression approach. The subjects in the study were 161 special education teachers in Indonesia who were selected using accidental sampling techniques. The instruments used were the grit-O scale and job satisfaction survey. The results of the data analysis showed that grit had a significant positive effect on job satisfaction, with a significance value of p <0.001. These findings indicate that special education teachers with high levels of grit tend to have better job satisfaction, despite facing pressure and challenges in their work. Therefore, it is important for individuals and educational institutions to encourage the development of grit
character in order to improve the satisfaction and work performance of shadow teachers.
