Abstract

Shallot (Allium cepa L.) is a strategic horticultural commodity that plays an important role in food security and the national economy. Efforts to increase shallot productivity can be carried out through sustainable fertilization practices, including the use of liquid organic fertilizer (LOF) derived from agricultural waste. This study aimed to evaluate the effects of different types and dosages of liquid organic fertilizer on the growth and yield of the Batu Ijo shallot variety. The research was conducted from April to May 2025 in Junrejo District, Batu City, East Java, using a factorial Randomized Block Design (RBD). The first factor was the type of LOF, consisting of shallot skin waste, vegetable waste, and banana corm waste, while the second factor was LOF dosage, namely 50, 100, and 150 mL per plant, with NPK fertilizer used as the control. Observed parameters included vegetative growth variables (plant height, number of leaves, and number of tillers) and yield components (fresh weight, dry weight, bulb weight, bulb diameter, number of bulbs, weight per bulb, and total yield). Data were analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA) followed by the 5% Honestly Significant Difference (BNJ) test. The results showed no interaction between LOF type and dosage on all observed parameters. Individually, LOF application significantly affected only bulb diameter, while other variables did not differ significantly from the NPK control. Banana corm LOF produced yields comparable to NPK fertilizer but did not significantly increase productivity. Laboratory analysis indicated that the macronutrient content of LOF was relatively low. It can be concluded that LOF has potential to improve soil fertility; however, its effectiveness in increasing shallot yield is influenced by nutrient content, dosage, and environmental conditions
