Abstract

Students are a population at risk of spending a lot of time in sedentary mode, due to academic demands that require them to remain in a sedentary posture for long periods of time. This problem has the potential to have adverse effects on students, both physically and mentally. In view of this problem, this study aims to develop intervention activities that can make students more physically active. The intervention activities focus on one component of the health belief model, namely perceived barriers. This is a quantitative study with a true experiment pretest-posttest control group design. The population in this study were final-year students, and sampling was conducted using convenience sampling. The instruments used in this study were the Adolescent Sedentary Activity Questionnaire (ASAQ) and the International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ). The results of the study showed a significant difference in sedentary behavior and physical activity between the control and experimental groups. The experimental group experienced a greater reduction in sedentary time and an increase in physical activity patterns compared to the control group. Therefore, this intervention has been proven to have a positive impact and can be used by other parties to address the issues of sedentary behavior and physical activity.
