Abstract

Learning innovation is a renewal both in strategies, methods, media, and approaches in learning. Innovation is important to do because it adapts to the times and the needs of students. The purpose of this study is to find out the forms of innovation applied in Islamic Religious Education learning, the supporting and inhibiting factors of learning innovation, and the impact of learning innovations on students' understanding and interest in learning. This research uses a qualitative approach with a case study type. Data were collected through observation of learning activities and interviews with Islamic Religious Education teachers and school principals. The results of the study showed: 1) The form of Islamic Religious Education learning innovation at SMAN 1 Menthobi Raya includes media innovations, models, and learning methods. Media innovation is carried out by utilizing Canva's digital technology, quiziz, and digital literacy integration. Model innovation is carried out with blanded project-based learning. Method innovation is carried out by jigsaw, inquiry learning, and product-based learning. 2) Supporting factors include the availability of facilities and infrastructure, the availability of internet networks, and adequate time allocation for teachers. Factors that inhibit innovation include differences in students' characters, unstable internet networks, and limited teachers' abilities about digital technology. 3) Islamic Religious Education learning innovations have a positive impact on increasing students' understanding and interest in learning.
