Abstract

This study aims to determine the maintenance of working parents' relationships with their children. The background to this study is that working parents are busy and have limited time with their children, sometimes prioritizing their careers over household matters. As a result, children may feel less cared for or lack closeness with their parents. This study was conducted in Bangil, Pasuruan, using a descriptive qualitative approach with a case study method. Data collection techniques were carried out through interviews, observations, and documentation of working parents who work approximately 8 hours a day and have adolescent children aged 12-17 years who are aware of maintaining their relationships. This study uses the relationship maintenance theory from Guerrero & Andersen which includes seven aspects: openness, positivity, assurances, support, mediated communication, conflict management, and humor. The results of the study indicate that although limited time and conditions are major challenges for working parents, maintaining consistent relationships through openness, affection, emotional support, and humor can be an effort to maintain good relationships with children.
