Abstract

The hospitality industry is one of the strategic sectors that supports economic growth and tourism development in Indonesia, particularly in Lombok Island, which is recognized as a leading tourist destination. Behind the friendly and professional service, hotel employees face complex emotional demands to consistently display positive expressions, even when they do not align with their actual emotional state. This phenomenon, known as emotional labor, if not properly managed, can lead to psychological well-being issues such as emotional exhaustion (burnout). Therefore, this study aims to examine the role of emotional labor in predicting
burnout among hotel employees in Lombok Island. This research employed a quantitative approach with a sample of 138 hotel employees selected through an accidental sampling technique. The instruments used were the Emotional Labor Scale (ELS) and the Maslach-Trisni Burnout Inventory (M-TBI), and the data were analyzed using multiple linear regression. The findings revealed a significant role of emotional labor in influencing burnout among hotel employees in Lombok Island.
