Abstract
Divorce is a common legal issue among the public, especially if it involves a long dispute between married couples, in order to respond to this situation, professional advocates are often used as their power of attorney between the parties. In the divorce case between YH and DP, the lawsuit was filed with two different judicial institutions, namely the Kediri District Court with registration number 23/Pdt.G/2025/Pn Gpr, and the Mojokerto District Court with registration number 73/Pdt.G/2025/Pn Mjk. The first lawsuit was filed with the Kediri Court, where the lawsuit was rejected based on considerations of relative competence, while the second lawsuit was filed with the Mojokerto Court where the plaintiff's lawsuit was accepted. This study intends to observe the efforts taken by advocates in defending the interests of their clients. This research uses an empirical method, which focuses on the facts in the field. Empirical data was obtained through cases that occurred in the District Court of Kediri Regency and the Mojokerto District Court, by means of interviews, observations, and documentation studies. This research shows the importance of advocate professionalism in understanding relative competence and appropriate litigation strategies to protect clients' rights. This research also contributes to the family law literature and serves as a reference for the community in choosing the appropriate legal path in dealing with domestic conflicts.
