Abstract

Based on data from the Indonesian Child Protection Commission (KPAI) and the Online Information System for the Protection of Women and Children (SIMFONI-PPA), sexual offenses against children constitute one of the most frequently reported forms of violence in Indonesia. One emerging form of sexual violence in the digital sphere is online child grooming, defined as the process of approaching and establishing a relationship with a child via the internet for the purpose of sexual exploitation or abuse. Depite this, there is a lack of culturally relevant and psychometrically sound psychological instruments to assess online grooming behaviors among Indonesian adolescents. This study aimed to adapt the Multidimensional Online Grooming Questionnaire (MOGQ) to the Indonesian language and cultural context using a quantitative psychological test adaptation approach. Participants were 173 adolescents aged 12–15 years who were active social media users, with 115 cases retained for analysis after data cleaning. The results indicate that several dimensions require refinement in wording and item coverage to improve the representativeness and cultural validity of the instrument, providing an initial foundation for a contextually appropriate measure of online grooming behaviors among Indonesian adolescents
