Abstract

This study aims to describe the learning strategies for Qur’anic Reading and Writing (Baca Tulis Al-Qur’an/BTQ) based on the Ummi Method at MI Muhammadiyah Kertek, Wonosobo, as well as their impact on students. The research employs a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data were collected through participatory observation, semi-structured interviews, and documentation. The research subjects included the principal, BTQ teachers, students, and parents. Data analysis was conducted using the Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña model, while data validity was ensured through triangulation. The results indicate that the BTQ learning strategies at MI Muhammadiyah Kertek, Wonosobo, are implemented systematically. At the planning stage, BTQ is established as an intrakurikuler program with adequate time allocation, supported by the assignment of specialized BTQ teachers as well as regular training and supervision in collaboration with the Ummi Foundation. During the implementation stage, learning is carried out by grouping students according to jilid levels, limiting the student–teacher ratio within each group, applying drill and baca simak strategies, using instructional media, and involving parents through achievement record books. At the evaluation stage, the school conducts daily assessments and standardized, objective promotion examinations to ensure students’ learning mastery. These strategies have been proven to produce positive impacts, including accelerated achievement of jilid levels and Qur’an graduation (wisuda Al-Qur’an), improved quality of Qur’anic recitation, greater ease in learning to read the Qur’an, and the development of a Qur’anic literacy culture within the home environment.
