Abstract

Biomass as a fuel that has low economic value or is waste after the
primary product is taken so that it can provide a sustainable source of energy that will produce heat in a simple way, namely biomass is directly burned and produces heat. Management of biomass as an alternative energy by utilizing energy converted as biobriquettes or biomass from apus bamboo (Gigantochloa apus) mixed with PET (Politelin Tereflalat) plastic waste. PET is a semicrystalline and transparent thermoplastic that has high rigidity, mechanical strength, and good chemical resistance. Briquette is a solid fuel made from a mixture of biomass, this solid fuel is a cheap alternative fuel and can be developed massively in a relatively short time given the simple technology and equipment. This research was conducted from
November 2023 to March 2024 in the laboratories of Universitas Muhammadiyah Malang and Universitas Negeri Malang. The results of the proximate test and calorific value showed significant values in the test of fly substance content, namely the interaction of PET concentration factors and biomass factors. Then the ash and
bound carbon content tests were significant in the interaction of the 3 PET concentration factors, the biomass factor and the Particle Size factor. However, the water content test was not significant in all treatments, the average water content was 2.93%, fly matter content was 56.31%, ash content was 10.53%, bound carbon content was 33.16%, and the average calorific value was 6023 cal/g.
