Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of mathematical resilience on students’ mathematical problem-solving ability in terms of extrovert and introvert personality types among tenth-grade students at SMA Negeri 1 Lolak. This research employed a quantitative approach using correlational and regression methods. Data were collected through a personality questionnaire, a mathematical resilience questionnaire, and a mathematical problem-solving ability test. Data analysis was conducted using the t-test, Pearson correlation test, and linear regression analysis. The results indicate that mathematical resilience has a very strong and significant effect on students’ mathematical problem-solving ability. The influence of mathematical resilience is more dominant in students with extrovert personality types, as indicated by a higher correlation coefficient (r = 0.975) and a greater contribution of influence (R Square = 0.951) compared to students with introvert personality types (r = 0.947; R Square = 0.897). Furthermore, students with a high level of mathematical resilience, particularly those in the extrovert group, demonstrate better mathematical problem-solving abilities than students with moderate and low levels of mathematical resilience. These findings suggest that mathematical resilience is an important factor that should be developed in mathematics learning to enhance students’ problem-solving abilities.
