Abstract

This study aims to conceptually examine fitrah-based education
according to two prominent figures, namely Harry Santosa and Hasan Langgulung. Both are contemporary Islamic education thinkers who place great emphasis on the importance of fitrah-based education as a primary approach to forming a complete human being in accordance with the purpose of creation as a khalifah (vicegerent) on earth.Harry Santosa emphasizes that
education must begin at an early stage, even before birth, and must be aligned with the fitrah or unique potential that Allah has bestowed upon every child. He rejects uniform educational approaches and highlights the crucial role of parents in educating children holistically physically, mentally, and spiritually. Meanwhile, Hasan Langgulung grounds his concept of fitrahbased education in the perspectives of the Qur‟an and Sunnah, viewing
human fitrah as an innate disposition reflecting divine attributes (Asma‟ul Husna) that must be developed within formal educational environments. He emphasizes the vital role of teachers and educational institutions in exploring and actualizing this fitrah potential so that learners are able to fulfill their roles as „abd (servant of God) and khalifah. This research employs a library
research method by analyzing the works of both scholars, including books, articles, and other relevant academic studies. The data are analyzed qualitatively using a descriptive approach to identify points of convergence and relevance between the two concepts.The findings indicate that the fitrahbased educational concepts of Harry Santosa and Hasan Langgulung are not
contradictory but rather complementary. Their integration provides a strong foundation for the development of a holistic and integral Islamic education system, both within the family environment and formal educational institutions.
