Abstract
This research aims to develop an interactive educational game using the Wick editor platform to enhance students’ mathematical communication skills. Conducted during the 2024/2025 academic year at Pesantren Tahfizh Albina Global, the study involved nine ninth-grade students and followed the ADDIE development model, comprising analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation stages. The preliminary analysis indicated limited use of digital media and the absence of assessments that specifically measured students’ ability to articulate mathematical ideas. In response, a five-level multiple-choice game based on Bloom’s taxonomy (C1–C5) was designed, integrating features such as a visual map, formula hints, and automatic feedback. Validation results from one expert and two practitioner educators yielded an average score of 3.22, indicating the media was valid with minor revisions. Implementation showed a score improvement from 58 (pretest) to 86 (posttest), resulting in an n-Gain of 0.66, categorized as moderately effective. Students also rated the game as highly practical (average score 3.18). Beyond enhancing engagement and visual interaction, the game significantly supported students in expressing mathematical ideas coherently, using appropriate symbols, and explaining their reasoning both orally and in writing. Hence, the developed game effectively strengthens mathematical communication in a reflective, structured, and contextually meaningful learning environment. Future studies are recommended to involve a larger and more diverse group of learners and to enhance the assessment features so that students’ mathematical communication skills can be measured more comprehensively.
