Abstract
This study aims to describe the actualization of religious moderation values in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) learning at SMA Negeri 1 Balauring, Omesuri District, Lembata Regency. It also explains the implications of this actualization of religious moderation values on student learning processes and outcomes. It also identifies various challenges faced in actualizing them in the school environment. This research used a qualitative approach with a case study method. Data collection techniques included direct observation, interviews, and documentation. The research informants included the principal, Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers, Catholic teachers, and students involved in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) learning activities. The data obtained were analyzed interactively through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The data validity was tested using source and method triangulation techniques. The results indicate that religious moderation is implemented through learning that emphasizes tolerance, respect for diversity, and balanced religious attitudes. The actualization of these values creates an inclusive and harmonious learning environment and increases students' awareness of tolerance. Furthermore, the application of religious moderation values also influences the development of student attitudes and behavior. The implications of actualizing the values of religious moderation are evident in improved student worship practices, respect for teachers and peers, social awareness, tolerance, discipline, environmental responsiveness, and adherence to school regulations. However, this study also identified challenges, such as limited learning resources and supporting media, inadequate learning facilities, and a lack of teacher training and capacity building. Therefore, policy support, ongoing evaluation, and teacher capacity building are needed to optimize the actualization of religious moderation values in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) learning.
