Abstract

This study aims to describe the learning strategies of the Teaching Factory (TEFA) model based on industrial work culture values at SMKN 4 Tanah Grogot Paser and to identify the challenges and adaptive solution it its implementation. A qualitative case study design was employed, involving productive teachers, culinary program students, and indsutry representatives. Data were collected throught in-depth interviews, direct observations, and documentation, then analyzed descriptively through data reduction, presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that TEFA has integrated core industrial work culture values such as discipline, responsibility, collaboration, accuracy, and service ethics through project based learning using real community orders as production media. The learning environment was designed to resemble industrial settings, emphasizing role division, deadlines, and evaluation of students’ work attitudes. The main challenges includes the absence of formal partnerships with industries, limited facilities and human resources, and difficulties in aligning production schedules with school activities. Adaptive solutions were developed through informal collaboration with community partners, flexible schedulling, and the integration of project based curricula supported by the Center of Excellence Vocational School Program. The study concludes that TEFA strategy effectively develops both vocational competence and professional character, offering a contextual alternative for vocational schools with limited industial cooperation.
