Abstract
Raw water is water sourced from surface water, groundwater basins, or rainwater that meets
specific quality requirements to be used as the raw material for drinking water. Water demand
in each region varies and is influenced by social conditions and population size: the larger the
population of a city, the greater its water demand. This study aims to analyze the required pipe
dimensions and head losses based on the characteristics of the study area. The planning process
consists of three main stages: calculating water demand, designing the pipeline network,
including determining pipe dimensions and materials, and analyzing energy losses within the
pipes. Discharge and head loss were calculated using two approaches: manual analysis based
on the Hazen-Williams equation and software simulation with Pipe Flow Expert. Based on the
analysis results, the water demand in the study area reaches 26.699 liters/second, with a
recommendation to use 10-inch HDPE pipes. The head loss due to pipe friction (hf) is 12.464
meters according to the manual method and 13.184 meters based on the simulation, indicating
consistency between the two methods.
