Abstract
The research is entitled "Evaluation of the Impact of Development of the North Kalimantan Region on the Quality of Community Life". This research aims to determine the impact of development in the North Kalimantan region on the quality of life of the community and find out the gap between the expected impact of regional development and the actual impact felt by the community in North Kalimantan.
The type of research used in this research is descriptive with a qualitative approach. The subjects of this research were informants from the Provincial Government and the North Kalimantan Community. The informants for this research were the Regional Development Planning and Research and Development Agency of North Kalimantan Province, the Head of the Education and Culture Service, the Head of the Health Service, NGO elements, business elements and the North Kalimantan Community. The data collection technique used was in-depth interviews, observation, searching for written documents both available in North Kalimantan provincial government offices and in online media. The data analysis technique used was qualitative analysis using Miles and Huberman analysis components through data collecting, data condensation, data display and Conclusions).
Based on the presentation and results of data analysis, this research concludes (1) The regional development of North Kalimantan Province has an impact on the quality of life of the community seen from the objective impact side through the status and speed of HDI development and from the subjective approach using Quality of Life indicators. The emergence of the COVID-19 pandemic since early 2020 has caused the HDI trend, which previously always increased from year to year, to decline. The decline in HDI was triggered by a decline in one of the components that make up HDI, namely the economic dimension (Decent Life) as seen from the adjusted per capita expenditure indicator. However, other components are still increasing. (2) Ideally, the goal of human development in North Kalimantan is to expand choices for the entire population fairly, but several things have not yet been implemented as expected and have caused progress in human development to be uneven or disparities in human development. At least 4 (four) disparities in human development can emerge In North Kalimantan, namely disparities between individuals, between genders, between dimensions and between regions.
