Abstract

The high maintenance costs of the Ripple Mill machine at PT. XYZ are due to the implementation of a reactive corrective maintenance system. To improve efficiency, this study proposes the implementation of a Modularity Design-based preventive maintenance method that allows for grouping machine components based on their function and process. The theoretical study covers the concepts of reliability, maintenance cost, and Weibull distribution as the basis for machine reliability analysis. The research method uses a quantitative approach through observation and interviews, with secondary data collection including breakdown frequency, downtime, and maintenance costs for 2023. Analysis was conducted using a Goodness of Fit distribution test using MINITAB 18 software to determine the shape (β) and scale (η) parameters, as well as calculating the MTTF and MTTR values for each module. The results indicate that the Ripple Mill machine can be grouped into four main modules. The application of the Modularity Design method resulted in a total maintenance cost of Rp53,774,584 per year, lower than the company's system of Rp66,406,179, with a cost efficiency of 19.02%. Thus, this method has proven effective in reducing costs and improving machine reliability
