Abstract

Kutai Timur Regency (Kutim), established through the division of Kutai Regency under Law No. 47 of 1999, is a strategic region in East Kalimantan covering 3,574,745 km². The palm oil sector is the backbone of the local economy, dominated by private plantations (77.8% in 2017). In Wahau District, poor road conditions force transport of fresh fruit bunches (FFB) through longer routes, increasing logistics costs and reducing farmers’ income. This highlights the critical role of well-planned and sustainable transportation infrastructure in improving production efficiency, distribution, and regional investment potential.
