Abstract

The availability of healthcare workers is a crucial aspect of healthcare services, which continually adapt to technological developments and community needs. In Blitar, many doctors and nurses open independent practices on call as an adaptation to service development. Furthermore, the shift towards managerial positions demands competency certification for career development beyond the clinical aspect. Healthcare organizations play a role in supporting career flexibility through ongoing training and a conducive work environment. However, this support will not be optimal without the internal motivation of healthcare workers to independently seek training and skill enhancement. Healthcare workers who actively develop themselves align with the concept of a protean career. This study aims to examine the effect of work self-efficacy on protean career orientation among healthcare workers in Blitar. The research method used was quantitative research with a correlational design. The study subjects consisted of 105 healthcare workers selected through purposive sampling. The research instruments used were the Work Self-Efficacy Scale (WSES) and the Protean Career Orientation Scale. Data were analyzed using simple linear regression analysis. A simple linear regression test showed a β = 0.542 (p < 0.001), indicating a significant effect between work self-efficacy and protean career orientation among healthcare workers in Blitar.
