Abstract
The quality of family life for parents raising children with special needs is strongly influenced by the social support they receive. Social support helps parents cope with emotional and practical challenges in caring for a child with disabilities. This study aims to examine the effect of social support on the Family Quality of Life among parents of children with special needs. This research employed a quantitative associative approach using multiple regression analysis. The participants were 100 parents of children with special needs in Malang City, selected through a purposive sampling technique. The instrument used were the Social Support Appraisals (SSA) scale and the Family Quality of Life Scale (FQoL). Data were analyzed using multiple regression tests to determine the influence of social support on family quality of life. The result showed that social support had a significant effect on the Family Quality of Life. Support from family and friends contributed more significantly than support from significant others. These findings suggest that higher levels of social support lead to better family quality of life. This study highlights the importance of strengthening family and community-based support networks to enhance the well-being of families with children with special needs.
