Abstract
This portfolio discusses the process of translating an English-language animated film titled “RWBY Volume 8 Episodes 1-4” into Arabic. Rooster Teeth Production, LLC is an American entertainment company headquartered in Austin, Texas. Founded in 2003 by Burnie Burns, Matt Hullum, Geoff Ramsey, Jason Saldana, Gus Sorola, and Joel Heyman, Rooster Teeth is a subsidiary of Warner Bros. Discovery Global Streaming & Interactive Entertainment, which is a division of Warner Bros. RWBY is an acronym for several characters: Ruby Rose, Weiss Schnee, Blake Belladonna, and Yang Xiao Long, voiced by Lindsay Jones, Kara Eberle, Arryn Zech, and Barbara Dunkelman. This animated film tells the story of Ruby's team and a group of hunters who are all fighting to help the people of Atlas and Mantle from monster attacks while heading toward the Amity communication tower, all while avoiding capture by Ironwood's forces. At the same time, Salim and his forces arrive in Atlas and engage in battle against General Ironwood's troops. The purpose of this portfolio is to provide an in-depth understanding of best practices in animated film translation and offer recommendations for improving translation quality that can be widely accepted by audiences. During the translation process, challenges were encountered, including the complexity of the translation and the need for careful consideration of linguistic, cultural, and aesthetic aspects, as well as language adaptation that preserves the original meaning while taking into account Arab cultural norms and audience preferences.
