Abstract

Current technological developments require all educational institutions to provide effective information services through websites. School websites play a crucial role in providing educational information, but the website of SMAN 2 Kota Probolinggo still faces several challenges, including the navigation and presentation of information, which are often perceived as confusing by website users. This has the potential to reduce website satisfaction and effectiveness. This study aimed to evaluate the usability level of the SMAN 2 Kota Probolinggo website and to provide recommendations for improvements to enhance the quality of the school's digital information services. The methods used in this study were the System Usability Scale (SUS) to measure quantitative perceptions of users, and the Cognitive Walkthrough (CW) to qualitatively assess the success of task scenarios. The Cognitive Walkthrough provides an in-depth qualitative analysis by assessing how users complete specific tasks on the website, identifying usability issues reinforced by the use of the system usability scale method in quantitative measurement of overall user perceptions, and validating findings resulting from the cognitive walkthrough. This study involved 46 respondents for the system usability scale method and 20 respondents for the cognitive walkthrough test. The System Usability Scale test results showed an average score of 65.65, below the standard of 68, thus categorizing it as Marginal Low. Meanwhile, the Cognitive Walkthrough results found a 97.5% task completion rate, a 1,826 goal/second time completion rate, and a 0.05% error rate. The main challenges in this study were the SPMB 2025 menu and the academic submenu. This study concluded that the SMAN 2 Kota Probolinggo website requires improvements in navigation structure, clarity of information, and content updates to make it more user-friendly. The research findings are expected to serve as a reference for developing more optimal educational websites in the future.
