Abstract

The success of an organization in achieving its goals does not only depend on technological superiority, sufficient operational funds, and the availability of facilities and infrastructure, but is also largely determined by the quality of its human resources. One important aspect that needs to be considered by an institution is the emergence of organizational citizenship behavior (OCB), which is voluntary behavior that exceeds the formal demands of the job and contributes to the effectiveness, efficiency, and productivity of the organization. This study aims to determine the effect of servant leadership on OCB mediated by emotional intelligence. This study is quantitative in nature. The sample consisted of 150 village government employees in Pohuwato Regency, Gorontalo Province, selected using purposive sampling. The research instruments used were the Organizational Citizenship Behavior Knowledge Workers (OCB-KW) scale, the SL-7 servant leadership scale, and the Assessing Emotional Scale (AES). Data analysis was performed using the Process Hayes model 4. The results of the study show that there is a significant direct effect between servant leadership and OCB. Furthermore, there is a significant indirect effect of servant leadership on OCB through the mediation of emotional intelligence. This means that servant leadership affects OCB both directly and through the improvement of emotional intelligence. Thus, part of the effect of servant leadership on OCB is explained by emotional intelligence, but the other part remains direct, so that the nature of the mediation is partial.
