Abstract

Employees working in the mining industry are faced with high job demands, shift work systems, and challenging work environments. Such pressures often lead to emotional tension that can affect employees’ psychological well-being. In dealing with these pressures, emotional regulation becomes an essential ability that enables individuals to manage their emotions adaptively, allowing them to maintain optimal psychological and social functioning. This study
aims to explore how emotion regulation influences the psychological well-being of employees working in mining companies. This research employed a quantitative approach with a total of 285 employees as participants, selected using accidental sampling techniques. The instruments used were the Emotional Regulation Questionnaire (ERQ) (α = 0.728) consisting of 10 items and the Psychological Well-Being scale (α = 0.802) consisting of 43 items. Data analysis using simple linear regression showed a positive effect of emotion regulation on psychological wellbeing with F = 31.367; p = 0.000 (p < 0.05) and an R² value of 0.100 or 10%. These findings indicate that the higher level of emotional regulation possessed by employees, the higher their psychological well-being in the mining work environment.
