Abstract

This study aims to: (1) describe employee motivation, work-life balance, and retention; (2) analyze the influence of motivation on employee retention; (3) analyze the influence of motivation on work-life balance; (4) analyze the influence of work-life balance on employee retention; and (5) analyze the indirect influence of motivation on retention through work-life balance as a mediating variable. This research adopts a quantitative method with a descriptive approach. The data were analyzed using path analysis and the Sobel test with the assistance of SPSS version 27. The population consisted of employees at PT Phapros Tbk Semarang, with a total of 100 respondents selected using a total sampling technique. The results show that: (1) motivation, work-life balance, and employee retention are categorized as high; (2) motivation has a positive and significant effect on employee retention; (3) motivation has a positive and significant effect on work-life balance; (4) work-life balance has a positive and significant effect on employee retention; and (5) work-life balance significantly mediates the effect of motivation on employee retention.
