Abstract

Early adolescence is a transitional period marked by significant physical, cognitive, and emotional changes. Emotional maturity at this stage is an important factor in shaping personality and adolescents’ adjustment to their social environment. This study aims to describe the level of emotional maturity among early adolescents. The research employed a quantitative approach with a descriptive method. The subjects consisted of 385 early adolescents aged 13–16 years, selected using accidental sampling techniques. Data were collected using an emotional maturity scale and analyzed with descriptive statistics through t- scores. The results showed significant variations in the level of emotional maturity among the subjects. A total of 48.83% of early adolescents were categorized as high, indicating that they had good abilities in managing emotions. However, the majority, 51.17%, fell into the low category, suggesting that many early adolescents still face challenges in emotional maturity. These findings indicate that while some early adolescents have developed the ability to recognize, understand, and control their emotions as well as empathize with others, most still struggle to manage their emotions effectively. The implications of this study can serve as a foundation for educators, parents, and school counselors in designing emotional development programs tailored to the developmental stage of early adolescence.
