Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of self-efficacy on nurses’ performance with job burnout as an intervening variable among nurses at Hospital X Malang. The research employed a quantitative approach using a survey method through the distribution of questionnaires to nurses. The study population consisted of all 47 nurses at Hospital X Malang, all of whom were taken as the sample using a saturated sampling technique. Data were analyzed using multiple regression and mediation tests. The results indicate that self-efficacy has a positive effect on nurses’ performance, while job burnout has a negative effect on performance. However, self-efficacy was not found to have a significant effect in reducing job burnout, meaning that it does not serve as a mediating variable. These findings suggest that enhancing self-efficacy can be an important strategy to improve nurses’ performance. Nevertheless, managing external factors that trigger job burnout remains necessary to ensure optimal performance. This study provides practical implications for hospital management in designing self-efficacy development programs as well as job burnout prevention strategies to support improvements in the quality of healthcare services.
