Abstract
Background: Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD) is a disorder of the
digestive system that occurs when stomach contents including stomach acid rise
into the esophagus causing disturbing symptoms or complications that can affect
the patient's health.
Objective: To find out the pattern of use of antacids including the form of
preparation, dosage, combination, duration of administration and achievement of
targets in GERD patients at the University of Muhammadiyah Malang Hospital.
Methods: This study is an observational study using a descriptive quantitative
method with a retrospective approach through viewing and copying data derived
from patients' Health Medical Records.
Results and Conclusions: The results of the study showed that of 32 GERD
patients who received a single antacid therapy pattern 1 patient (3%), a combination
of two as many as 20 patients (63%), a combination of three as many as 8 patients
(25%). The single use pattern used is Antacids (3x5mL) po, the two most common
combinations are Antacids*(3x5mL) po + Omeprazole(2x40mg)iv, combinations
of three, namely Antacids* (3x5mL) po+ Omeprazole(2x40mg)iv + Ranitidine
(1x50mg) iv. There were 3 patients who got a switch pattern.
