Abstract

Public Speaking Anxiety is a common problem among college students, especially first-year
students. Students experiencing public speaking anxiety can impact their performance in
learning activities at university. This study aims to determine whether there is an influence
between self-efficacy and public speaking anxiety in college students. The research method used
is a quantitative approach with questionnaire distribution. The subjects in this study were 419
students from the 2024 class of the University of Muhammadiyah Malang. The sampling
technique used in this study was simple random sampling. The instruments in this study were
the General Self-Efficacy Scale and the Personal Report of Public Speaking Anxiety. Data
analysis in this study used the JASP application with simple linear regression analysis
techniques. The results of this study indicate a significant influence between self-efficacy and
public speaking anxiety with a significance value of p <0.001. The implications for students are
that they can improve their public speaking skills by taking lessons and being active in
organizations.
