Abstract

Continuous decline in profits in a company can result in losses and even bankruptcy, which in turn has an impact on the loss of the company's existence in the market. The bankruptcy of the company is caused by the company's inability to use its assets to generate sales efficiently, low sales growth and the dynamic development of the world economy. Preventive efforts are needed to prevent financial difficulties in anticipation of bankruptcy. The study aims to examine the effect of profitability, sales growth and operating capacity on financial distress. The independent variables used in this study consist of profitability, sales growth, and operating capacity while financial distress is the dependent variable. The research method used is quantitative and associative. The population in this study is manufacturing companies in the food and beverage industry sector listed on the IDX for the 2021-2024 period. The sampling technique in this study uses the purposive sampling method which produces 14 companies as samples in the food and beverage industry. The data analysis used was a descriptive statistical test, multiple linear regression analysis, and hypothesis testing using the Statistical Product and Service Solution (SPSS) application version 25. The results of this study show that profitability, sales growth and operating capacity have no effect on financial distress.
