Abstract

The role of information technology in the drug stock management process is crucial to the sustainability of pharmacy operations, particularly in ensuring the availability and accuracy of drug procurement. At Apotek Al-Karimah 2, issues were identified in stock recording and management, which were still performed manually, leading to inaccuracies in data and inefficiencies in business processes. This study aims to redesign the drug stock management process—covering planning, procurement, and sales activities to improve overall process efficiency. The approach employed is Business Process Reengineering (BPR) based on the ESIA (Eliminate, Simplify, Integrate, Automate) principles, using a qualitative descriptive research method. Data were collected through interviews and direct observation of the current processes, then modeled using BPMN. Performance analysis was carried out using ASME mapping, throughput efficiency testing, cycle time measurement, and process simulation with Bizagi Modeler. The results show an increase in throughput efficiency by 21.09%, from 57.52% to 78.61%. Meanwhile, the total process time was reduced by 1,134 minutes, from 1,695 minutes to 561 minutes, and the average cycle time improved from 2,480 minutes to 833.5 minutes. The redesigned process also demonstrated a significant reduction in the highest average waiting time per activity, from 362.5 minutes to 65.5 minutes.
