Abstract

This study discusses the communication dynamics that form in the Loversation digital community, a community of readers of Valerie Patkar's works who interact through the WhatsApp group platform and supporting social media. The presence of this community shows how digital space is not only a means of sharing information, but also an arena of social practices that shape habits, communication traditions, and shared meanings among its members. The purpose of this study is to describe the communication habits and traditions that emerge in the Loversation community, identify the topics of conversation and activities that are most in demand by members, and understand how members interpret messages circulating within the community. The method used is descriptive qualitative with a netnographic approach, with data collection techniques through observation, in-depth interviews, and digital documentation. Data analysis uses the Miles and Huberman model which includes data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions, and is analyzed using Pierre Bourdieu's theory of social practice. The results of the study show that communication in the Loversation community takes place dynamically even though its frequency is uncertain. This study provides results that the Loversation community does not only function as a space for sharing information, but also becomes an arena of social practices where members negotiate meaning, build closeness, and maintain a shared identity.
