Abstract
Academic procrastination is a tendency to delay task completion, which is commonly experienced by final-year students during the thesis-writing process. This condition is closely related to stress levels, making stress coping an important factor in reducing the tendency toward procrastination. This study aims to examine the effect of stress coping on academic procrastination among final-year students at Universitas Muhammadiyah Malang. The research employed a quantitative non-experimental method with a correlational approach. The participants consisted of 251 students from the 2019–2021 cohorts, selected through accidental sampling. The instruments used were the Brief COPE to measure stress coping and the Pure Procrastination Scale (PPS) to measure academic procrastination. Data were analyzed using simple linear regression with SPSS. The results showed that stress coping had a significant effect on academic procrastination, contributing 19% to the variance.
