Abstract

The development of digital technology has influenced employee behavior, particularly among Generation Z who grew up in the culture of the internet and social media. One phenomenon that frequently occurs in the workplace is cyberloafing, namely the use of the internet for personal purposes during working hours. Although often considered a stress-relief mechanism, this behavior can negatively affect Organizational Citizenship Behavior (OCB), which refers to voluntary employee actions that support organizational effectiveness. This study aims to examine the effect of cyberloafing on OCB among Generation Z employees in Malang City. The research employed a quantitative approach with a correlational design and involved 390 Generation Z employees as respondents. The instruments used included a cyberloafing scale and an OCB scale, both of which had been tested for validity and reliability. Data were analyzed using simple linear regression with the JASP program. The results revealed a significant negative effect of cyberloafing on OCB, with a contribution of 56%. These findings indicate that the higher the level of cyberloafing, the lower the OCB shown by employees. This research is expected to contribute to the development of industrial and organizational psychology and serve as a reference for companies in formulating policies to manage internet use in the workplace more wisely and productively.
