Abstract

. Employees face various demands at work, requiring strong emotional regulation and healthy social relationships. Emotional intelligence (EI) is considered a crucial factor influencing positive behaviors such as Organizational Citizenship Behavior (OCB). This study aims to examine the effect of emotional intelligence on OCB among employees. This quantitative research involved 101 participants selected using non-probability sampling using accidental sampling method. The EI scale was developed based on Goleman’s five dimensions, and the OCB scale followed Organ’s five dimensions. Scale validity ranged from 0.80–1 with reliability of 0.922 for EI, and 0.85–1 with reliability of 0.951 for OCB. Data were analyzed using linear regression in SPSS version 30.0.0. Results revealed a significant positive relationship between emotional intelligence and OCB which amounted to 0,981. This implies that employees with higher emotional intelligence are more likely to demonstrate citizenship behaviors at work. These findings highlight the importance of emotional intelligence training to foster voluntary, prosocial contributions in the workplace.
