Abstract

The objective of this study was to evaluate the influence of music exposure on physiological parameters and feed intake in beef cattle. A total of six animals were assigned to two treatments: a control group without music and a treatment group exposed to Javanese classical (campursari) music played for 4 hours per day over a 30-day period. Physiological indicators including respiratory rate, heart rate, rumen motility, and body temperature, as well as daily feed intake, were measured. Data were analyzed using descriptive quantitative methods. The findings revealed that cattle in the control group exhibited an average respiratory rate of 20.59 breaths/min, heart rate of 68.92 beats/min, body temperature of 38.48°C, rumen motility of 1.1 contractions/min, and feed intake of 3.14 kg/head/day. In contrast, cattle exposed to music showed lower respiratory and heart rates (17.64 breaths/min and 66.80 beats/min, respectively), a slightly reduced body temperature (38.31°C), similar rumen motility (1.1 contractions/min), and a higher feed intake (3.75 kg/head/day). In conclusion, exposure to Javanese classical campursari music exerted a beneficial effect by promoting physiological stability and enhancing feed intake in beef cattle.
