Abstract
A adolescence is a period of identity exploration marked by physical, biological, social, and emotional changes, including acne that can affect self-concept and reduce adolescents’ self-confidence. Acne vulgaris, a common skin problem during adolescence, often triggers shame, anxiety, and social withdrawal. This study analyzes the effect of self-esteem and social support on adolescents’ self-confidence with acne vulgaris. Using a quantitative correlational design and multiple regression analysis, 356 adolescents aged 14–22 years were selected through accidental sampling. Research instruments included adapted scales of self-esteem, social support, and self-confidence. The results show that adolescents with acne vulgaris generally have moderate levels of self-esteem, social support, and self-confidence. Regression analysis revealed that self-esteem and social support positively and significantly influence self-confidence, contributing 72.7%. These findings highlight the importance of psychologists, parents, teachers, and health practitioners in helping adolescents strengthen self-esteem and social support to cope with the psychological impacts of acne vulgaris.
