Abstract
This study aims to examine how feelings of loneliness influence binge watching behavior among university students. The increasingly prevalent phenomenon of binge watching among young adults, particularly students, is understood as one of the ways they cope with negative emotions such as loneliness. This research adopts a quantitative approach with a causal-associative method and uses convenience sampling involving 607 students aged 18–25 who habitually watch at least 2 to 4 episodes in one sitting. The instruments used in this study include the ULS-8 to measure the level of loneliness and the BWESQ to assess binge watching behavior. Data analysis using simple linear regression shows that loneliness has a positive and significant influence on binge watching behavior (p = 0.019; R² = 0.009). This means that the higher the level of loneliness experienced, the greater the tendency for students to engage in binge watching. The findings of this study not only enhance the understanding of how emotional conditions affect addictive behaviors in the digital entertainment world but also serve as a reference for understanding the relationship between loneliness and viewing habits.
