Abstract

Indonesia is one of the world’s largest coconut producers, with great potential to develop coconut shell charcoal briquettes as an environmentally friendly and high–economic–value export commodity. This study aims to analyze the export volume trends of coconut shell charcoal briquettes from PT SNI, Indonesia at the national level, and China to Saudi Arabia. The research employs a descriptive quantitative approach using trend analysis and secondary time-series data from 2013–2023. Data were obtained from the ITC Trade Map and company reports, which were then processed using SPSS software. The results show that PT SNI’s exports were fluctuating with limited growth due to internal constraints, Indonesia’s national exports experienced significant growth supported by abundant raw material availability, while China’s exports demonstrated consistent growth supported by technological advantages and logistical efficiency. A comparison among the three indicates that Indonesia has a comparative advantage in terms of raw materials, whereas China holds a competitive advantage. Therefore, strategies to enhance competitiveness and downstream industrialization are necessary for Indonesia to maximize its export potential of charcoal briquettes to Saudi Arabia.
