Abstract

This research was conducted to describe and analyze the internalization of multicultural values in Islamic Religious Learning at SMA Budi Utomo Medan. This research uses an interpretive paradigm, a qualitative approach, and a case study research method. The data collection techniques used in this study were observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis using the interactive analysis model of Miles and Huberman through the process of data condensation, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The results of the study show 1. The main multicultural values internalized in Islamic religious learning at SMA Budi Utomo Medan are tolerance between religious communities, mutual respect for ethnic and cultural differences, cooperation in diversity, and empathy for others 2. The process of internalizing multicultural values in Islamic religious learning at SMA Budi Utomo Medan is carried out through existing policies at the school,. Integration of multicultural values in the curriculum, the role of interfaith teachers, religious activities that involve the active participation of interfaith adherents both from teachers and students as far as tolerance is justified in religion and the involvement of parents of students 3. The significant impact of Internalization of Multicultural Values in Islamic Religious Learning at SMA Budi Utomo Medan on the formation of students' attitudes that are more tolerant, inclusive, and nationalistic The results of the study are also very much in line with the theory of Banks with 5 dimensions that are the basis for multiculturalism, namely the integration of multicultural education materials into the curriculum; second, reconstructing knowledge to be more inclusive; third, reducing prejudice; fourth, implementing pedagogy that upholds equality; and fifth, empowering school culture and social structures.
